Jack Hammer!

So today a friend and I knocked out the concrete that stands in the way of our plumbing line. My friend's name is Chet and he's a cool kid. I used to work with him a little at Alpine Heating. Anyway, it was really hard at first because we were using a sledge hammer and a steel bar. Then we decided to rent a hammer drill and try to break it up. Then when that was taking forever I finally caved and we rented a real powerful jack hammer! It was awesome!!! I have never run one before and I have to admit it was kinda fun. Boys and their power tools...hehehe. We got rid of the concrete in about 30 minutes which would have taken us at least 2 or 3 hours the way we were doing it before. Which got me to thinking...if we have the right tools in life, it doesn't have to be that hard. Just an interesting thought. Everything is going well on the store and I will keep you posted as we go along. I have never been so busy in all my life. I get to bed before 1:00 (if I'm lucky) and I'm up and going around 6:30 or 7:00. I think I might burn myself out before long. But only a month or so of this and all will be good.

Holli is making me eat breakfast every morning now. I promised her I would and I tell you, it's hard! I don't like cereal, and I'm too lazy in the mornings to make anything else. I told her that if I could go to Denny's or Smitty's or Perkin's (why are all those possessive? weird...) and eat bacon and eggs and pancakes every morning and hashbrowns and sausage and orange juice and biscuits and gravy or some kind of combination, I would gladly eat breakfast! She didn't go for that. So cereal it is. We'll see how well this goes. Wish me luck! Toodles.

My store

So, this is a before and after picture of my store. It is located at 3104 S 25th E on Hitt Road by Jimmy John's Sandwiches. We are currently in the remodeling stages. The first has the carpet and wall and the second is when the carpet is gone and the wall is stripped. We are really excited and hopeful that we can open September 1st. If you would like to see some pictures of Sub Zero Ice Cream, go to gallery.me.com/sorvetter and check it out.

We are doing most of the remodeling ourselves. I remodeled my house last winter which was an experience, and this is much like
that. I had Dad's help A LOT on my house and he is also helping with this. He will be a big part of the store and I am so glad. I think that there is a lot I will learn from him. I suspect I will get a lot of help from Holli's father as well. He also helped on our house and built our closet shelving. He's a darn good carpenter! So I will try to keep this blog up to date with news of our store and hope you enjoy it!

Close to a month!

Yeah, so I guess I shouldn't take this long to write. Although there are roughly (1..2..3..4..) I think four people who read my blogs, I should still be writing more frequently. So here my goal: to write more often. I know, deep huh.

It's been a crazy month! A lot has happened. We have acquired a little over half of the total money we need for our business! We are now only $40,000 short...if you know anyone, point them my way please! We put a down payment on the franchise itself and signed all the paperwork. It is a done deal. And this week we will be signing the lease and paying our deposit on the building. I have been gathering bids for the remodel and although it seems expensive, it is going to work! I am VERY excited and feel extremely blessed. I know it is going to work out.

Yesterday, Holli and I bought a couch for the store. I'm not sure about her, but I'm pumped! I think it's an awesome couch. Thanks to Rachel for helping us decide. It's well built yet comfortable and the color is perfect. It also has stainless steel looking legs so it will fit right in with our scheme. Now we need to find two lounge type chairs that are a dark cherry red.

I just lost my train of thought so I will close. I'll try to post more often and make this more entertaining and interesting to read. Have a great week!
